The third Niswartha Puraskar instituted by Radio MACFAST-90.4, Kerala’s prime Community Radio, in the name of its former Station Director V.George Mathew, has been presented to the Kunnamthanam-based Little Servants of the Divine Providence, a Catholic ascetics’ congregation, at an august function held in connection with the radio station’s 13th anniversary celebrations held at MACFAST Auditorium in Thiruvalla on Tuesday.

The Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Prof (Dr) Sabu Thomas, Inaugurated the anniversary fete.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Thiruvalla, His Grace Dr Thomas Mar Koorilos, presided over the meeting attended by a fine cross section of the society comprising students, academics, parents, listeners, art aficionados and wellwishers.

The award comprised of a purse worth Rs 25,000 and a memento.

The Vice Chancellor presented the award to Sr Mary Rosily, Mother Superior of the LSDP Divine Providence Home at Kunnamthanam.

Fr Dr Cherian J. Kottayil, MACFAST Director; Prof (Dr) Varghese K.Cherian, Principal; Mother Mary Rosily, Prof Varghese Abraham, Administrator; Prof (Dr) K.R.Sukumaran Nair, Academic Director; Rev Koshy Mannil, College Manager; Kaviyur Sivaprasad, film maker and Radhakrishnan Kuttoor, Radio MACFAST Station Director, addressed the gathering.
Dr Roy Abraham Kallivayalil, former Secretary General of World Psychiatric Association, Dr A.C.Rajeev Kumar, Senior Ayurvedic Physician and Director of Aswathy Bhavan Ayurvedic Hospital, Mr Sethukrishnan, HR Manager at Tata Consultancy Services, who have have contributed more than 100 episodes of programmes (Medi Talk and Career Awareness Programme) to Radio Macfast-90.4 were felicitated on the occasion.

Cultural programmes by inmates of the Divine Providence Home and radio jockeys were the other attractions of the anniversary celebrations.
