About the Programme

The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme is designed to develop professionally competent, ethically grounded, and socially committed social work practitioners. The programme integrates academic learning with intensive field-based training to equip students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values essential for professional social work practice. MSW is a two-year Post Graduate Programme with an intake of 20 students at MACFAST College.

The programme is designed with the objective of transforming young graduates into responsible, value-driven and skilled social work professionals capable of addressing contemporary social challenges. We offer Specializations in the fields of Community Development (CD), Family and Child Welfare (FCW), Medical and Psychiatric Social Work (MPSW). Through a carefully structured curriculum that combines theory, research, and concurrent fieldwork, students are trained to address complex social problems at individual, group, community, and policy levels.

The Department provides a vibrant learning environment that extends beyond classrooms through Rural camps, Nation wide Observation Visits, Concurrent Fieldworks, Block Internships, Research Projects, and Community Outreach Initiatives, Social awareness programmes, Extra skills based activities under SWAYAM Association. The programme aims to nurture compassionate leaders and effective change agents capable of responding to societal challenges at local, national, and global levels.

Fieldwork is an integral and distinctive component of the MSW programme.
