The School of Biosciences was first established in 2002 with the postgraduate course in Bioinformatics for the first time in Kerala. The department offers specialized courses with a special emphasis on research and innovation. We promote student’s multidisciplinary talents and focus them to pursue global standards. Several futuristic courses like Biochemistry, Plant Biotechnology, and Bioinformatics are exclusive to the college.

What we do at School of Biosciences ?
M. Sc. @ MACFAST is the combination of five post graduate programmes in the field of life sciences facilitated by the School of Biosciences that aims at moulding industry-ready, self-reliant and innovative leaders in science. The programmes include MSc Biochemistry, MSc Bioinformatics, MSc Biotechnology, MSc Plant Biotechnology and MSc Food Technology and Quality Assurance under the affiliation of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The curriculum provides the basic requirements to achieve knowledge for pursuing a career in science as well as in the industry.
How we do it ?
The School of Biosciences provides an outstanding environment for students to learn and explore new frontiers in science and technology. We focus on high quality education and enhancement of personal talent and skills. The student community is encouraged to conduct independent research with guidance from highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty members and publish their work in peer reviewed indexed journals. The college in itself publishes the peer reviewed Journal of Science, Technology and Management to encourage student and faculty publications. The students are made industry-ready with strong practical training and research experience instilling confidence to face global requirements. The spirit of self-reliance and self-employment through entrepreneurship encouragement is also instigated in the students. The students are also provided with soft-skill training, placement support and aptitude training to facilitate this process. The best training is through experiential sessions provided with the help of established experts and scientists through International and National conferences and seminars.

As a result of the strategic training by the dedicated faculty members, our students become well-equipped to face the world. They become industry-ready, skilled, innovative and responsible students who contribute directly to the betterment of the society.
