Student Forums 

 

There are different Student Forums working in the college.

(i) Students Internal Quality Assurance Cell (SIQAC)

A quality circle which consists of student representatives from different departments. SIQAC is a student initiated forum which organizes meetings at regular intervals and discusses feedbacks and suggestions collected from the students’ community. SIQAC acts as a bridge between college administration and student community. Suggestions and issues raised by SIQAC are discussed in the meetings of IQAC and decisions are taken accordingly. 

(ii) Placement Cell

The placement cell actively coordinates both on-campus and off-campus recruitment drives. The placement committee has student representatives from the respective departments, who actively organizes all the activities of the placement cell.

Student Clubs

 
(i) National Service Scheme (NSS) 
The MG University, Kottayam has sanctioned one unit of NSS (Unit No 124) during the academic year 2012. The basic objective of the NSS is to arise and empower the social consciousness of students. The scheme is intended to provide an opportunity for the students to engage in constructive social action, develop co-operative team spirit and gain skills in democratic leadership. Under the guidance of the Programme Officer, the NSS unit is organizing various programmes addressing issues of social, ethical and human rights. This unit regularly conducts blood donation camps, medical camps, cleaning programmes, awareness programmes etc.
 
(ii) Literary Club 
The Literary Club is a place where students can meet to read and write. The club is more than just a club for reading and writing; it is also a place where students can come to share their insights on life and society in general. It welcomes all students with a passion for reading and creative writing.
 
(iii) Forestry Club 

The Forestry Club was registered (Reg. No. SFPTA-42/17-18) under the auspices of Kerala State Forest and Wildlife Department, and started functioning in the college with the participation of students and faculty members. The club aims to sensitize the student community about the forest wealth, the importance of its conservation and to educate the society about forest conservation. “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better” by Albert Einstein is the motto of the club.

(iv) G.N. Ramachandran Science Club 
The G. N. Ramachandran Science club of MACFAST is affiliated with Vigyan Prasar network of Science Clubs (VIPNET) of Vigyan Prasar, Govt. of India. The School of Biosciences has been continuously organizing International and National conferences, seminars and webinar series under the GNR Science club, to inspire the younger generation for their better career in scientific research. All of its programmes have been a massive success with high participation from students, research scholars, and faculty from all over the world. Eminent scientists from various reputed research institutions including Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute Mysore, IISER Bhopal, National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) Bengaluru, Central University Hyderabad, Institute of Cancer Research London, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna, MIGAL – Galilee Research Institute Israel, National Stowers Institute for Medical Research US, Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) New Delhi have interacted with students during various sessions. Interaction with entrepreneurs helps the students to understand the process of initiating and implementing the new business ideas. G. N. Ramachandran Science club also provides a platform for our students to discuss and present the recent developments in Science and Technology.
 
(v) Women’s Cell
The women’s cell, established in May 2014 with a view of creating awareness about important aspects related to women and provides a forum for the discussion and deliberations on women empowerment, gender equality, women entrepreneurship etc. It helps girl students to develop emotional maturity to deal with their life problems. It also encourages staff members to extend their support and guidance to girl students. This cell invites eminent personalities to the campus to address the students. The objectives of women cell of MACFAST are the following:
1. To spread awareness among girl students about maintaining healthy relationships with others.
2. To encourage girl students to discuss their problems with teachers without any hesitation.
3. Helping girl students to develop assertiveness, optimism and emotional maturity to deal with their day-to-day problems.
4. To encourage staff members to extend their support, counsel and guidance to the girl students in need.
5. To invite eminent personalities to give talks on various issues related to women.
6. Empowering girl students to face future challenges.
7. To facilitate a gender-sensitive and congenial working environment for women employees and women students of MACFAST.
 
(vi) Entrepreneurship Development Club 
The objective of the club is to inculcate entrepreneurial culture among the students. Industrial experience sharing sessions of famous industrialists are arranged frequently under the leadership of EDC. The club also organizes workshops, seminars and conferences in association with District Innovation Council, Kerala Start-up Mission, etc.
