Extension
MACFAST, since its inception, has given substantial thrust to extension activities. This is evident from the numerous flagship extension projects organized under various programs in association with Radio MACFAST 90.4 FM, National Service Scheme (NSS), Literary Club, Women’s Club, Forestry Club, Film Club, etc. The college extends its service to various Government, Semi-Government, Private organizations and institutions. Some of them are:
- Arivum Athijeevanavum: This project includes multiple projects done by MACFAST during the COVID 19 pandemic. The activities done under 'Arivum Athijeevanavum' project are:
- The college has helped various District Administrators and Police force to monitor and prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease by developing a bunch of Android applications. These applications have varied functions that include the coordination of the Disaster Response Teams, Data collection/analysis/interpretation of migrant labourers and expatriate returnees, GPS tracking of quarantined citizens.

- Distribution of Medicinal plants in the neighbourhood to help them in boosting their immunity power and to prevent COVID-19.
- MOOC courses of Coursera, NPTEL and edX:We have successfully introduced the system of providing MOOC courses of Coursera, NPTEL and edX completely free of cost to our students and faculty which has immensely helped in changing our prospective vision towards the future. The student community has developed a sense of achievement with each of their accomplishments leaving them with the capability of facing the world confidently.
- 'Youth Empowerment through Physical and Mental wellbeing' Online Meditation and Breath Workshop in association with Art of Living Foundation.
- Production and distribution of Masks and Hand sanitizers: MACFAST has always tried to become the trendsetters not only in education but also in other non-academic matters of societal importance. Initiated by the School of Biosciences, we have produced more than Hand sanitizers, produced as per the guidelines of WHO hand rub formulations. Masks were also produced by the college as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 disease transmission. These measures have immensely helped the local governance in tackling the problem of providing sufficient materials required for mitigating the spread of the deadly virus.
- Free Data recharge for students from economically backward community.
- ‘Shastrolsavam’ Tele Quiz, Online short story and poem writing competition via Radio MACFAST 90.4 FMto bring education and entertainment together and to help the student community inreducingstress and anxiety.
- Distributed LED Television sets for students from economically backward community.
- ‘Clean and Green’ Tiruvalla: It is a project donein association with Radio MACFAST 90.4 and Tiruvalla Municipal Council to achieve the aim – Clean and Green Tiruvalla. The concept put forward is NIMBY (Not In MyBack Yard) Syndrome to IMBY (In My Back Yard) habit i.e. waste management is the Source itself which is an initiative to practice micro level decentralized waste management.
- Free coaching for competitive examinations: The College provides free coaching for students from other institutions who wishes to appear for competitive examinations such as KMAT, CMAT, and LBS. We also help other HEIs in meeting their curricular demands by providing resources and expertise.
- ‘War against Drugs’: This project is done in association with Radio MACFAST 90.4 to create awareness among public especially young generation on the hazardous effects of drugs by conducting various awareness programme, seminars and road shows.
- ‘Nervazhi’: It is a traffic awareness programme done in association withRadio MACFAST 90.4 FM. The college has a resource team trained by the State Traffic Department for undertaking traffic awareness classes at schools and colleges.
- MACFAST Knowledge Scheme (MAKS): MAKS is an endeavour of MACFAST to trigger the knowledge revolution. It envisages identification, training and development of talented school students for enabling them to face competitive examinations.
- World Heart Day Celebrations, October 2019: School of Biosciences and NSS unit, MACFAST organized Free Medical Camp in which 100 students participated.
- 'Train the Trainer Programme': Department of Computer Applications organized one-day programme - “Train the Trainer Programme with Online Tools” for training the faculty members of specially challenged schools on 16th November 2019. The goal of this programme was to enhance the development growth of specially challenged students by providing activities to enhance creativity and to guide the disabled students by identifying their area of interest. It is always better to assess the specially challenged students with online technology in order to improve their communication skill, language etc. Training programme was offered for Mar Gregorious Memorial Bethany Santhi Bhavan Special School for Mentally Challenged students in Kadamankulam, Vikas School, Assis Convent, House of Providence Kunnamthanam, Thejus School, MGM Bethany Convent and other various special schools.
- Extended services provided in the areas of Water Analysis, Soil Analysis, Food Processing, Tissue culture Technologies, Vegetable Gardening, Bio-Gas Technology, Bio-Fertilisers, Bio-Pesticides, Bio-Fungicides.
- ‘Punyam Poonkavanam’: A joint project in association with Kerala Police during the pilgrim season at ‘Sabarimala’. The project emphasised on plastic free pilgrim season and also gave importance in maintaining the cleanliness of the temple premises.
